What to do in Pattaya?

September 18th, 2009 myway

Pattaya is 147 kilometers southeast of Bangkok, located on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand

Pattaya’s three main areas are Pattaya Beach (central Pattaya), Jomtien Beach (south) and Naklua Beach (north). The area from Central Pattaya to South Pattaya along the Beach Rd. and the sois (sidestreets) in between as well as almost everywhere along 2nd Rd. is where most of the nightlife and bars are.

Pattaya is the ideal family holiday destination, where all people can enjoy a variety of activities at reasonable cost. Windsurfing - Jomtien Beach is the premier center of windsurfing in Thailand. Everyone can try surfing because there is tuition for beginners. The Pattaya Windsurfing Club on Jomtien Beach regularly organizes competitions; October to June is the best period when the condition of water and wind are at its best. Pattaya never sleeps. In fact, things heat up especially once the sun sets. A four-kilometer stretch of beachside in Pattaya South features the best after-dark entertainment in town. Beer bars and go-go bars are dotted all along main roads and side ’sois’ (streets), and have earned a dubious reputation for Pattaya, but also happens to be one of the main draw-cards.

Tourist information is freely available in Pattaya, and can be obtained from one of the several Tourist Information Centres scattered about the central area or, for a much greater variety, from any of the myriad of travel agents, tour operators or from your hotel foyer. For sure it’s a party city more than a quiet coastal destination, with plenty of activities both night and day. However you can escape to idyllic offshore islands, alternatively take the family to one of the amusement or themed parks, get in a round of golf, have fun with watersports, go shopping, do the spa ‘thing’, or enjoy the fun and slightly naughty night scene. We’ve got it all covered here.
